Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
At Dua Kitaplığı (www.duakitapligi.com) we care about the privacy of our visitors and app users. This page explains which data is processed when you use our website and our mobile app.
In short
The app has no membership, account or sign-in; we do not ask you for any personal information such as name, e-mail or phone number. Your dhikr counters, dua notebook, missed-prayer and fasting records stay only on your own phone. Your location is used on your phone to calculate prayer times and the qibla; when you open the mosque finder, only your approximate location is sent to our server to fetch nearby mosques. The app shows ads through Google AdMob; for these ads Google uses information such as your device’s advertising ID. Details are below.
Website
Data collected: Our site has no membership system and does not ask visitors for personal information such as name or e-mail. Our server may keep standard access logs (IP address, browser type, time of visit) for security and technical analysis.
Cookies: Our site uses the cookies needed for its basic functions. Google AdSense may also be used on our site as a third-party advertising service. Google may use cookies to show you suitable ads based on your visits to our site. For a detailed list of cookies see our Cookie Policy page; to manage Google’s advertising cookies see the Google Ads Settings page.
Third-party links: Our site may contain links to our social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, X). The companies concerned are responsible for the privacy practices of those platforms.
Data security: Our site is served over a connection encrypted with an SSL certificate.
Mobile app
This section covers the Dua Kitaplığı app we have prepared for Android. There is no membership, registration or sign-in in the app. We do not ask for or collect any personal information such as name, surname, e-mail or phone number.
Location
The app asks for location permission so that it can calculate prayer times and the qibla direction for where you are. Your location is read only while you use the app, used for the calculation and stored on your own phone. For prayer times and the qibla, location data is not sent to us or to our servers.
Mosque finder: To list mosques near you, the app sends your approximate location (latitude and longitude rounded to about 100 metres) to our server, which finds the mosques in that area from OpenStreetMap data and returns them. This is not linked to any account or identifier; it may only remain briefly in standard server access logs. Distances to mosques are calculated on your phone. Map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap servers.
City search: When you search for your city by hand, the text you type is passed to your phone’s location service (Android), provided by Google, to find results. The city you choose is stored only on your phone.
You do not have to grant location permission. If you do not, you can still see the times and the qibla by choosing your city manually in the app. You can withdraw the permission at any time from your phone’s Settings.
When you grant the app location permission, the advertising service also becomes able to access the device’s location and may use it to show ads based on approximate location. This does not mean the app sends your location to us.
Information stored on your phone
The following information created while you use the app is kept only in your device’s memory; it does not reach us and we cannot see it: the location or city you chose, your theme and font-size preferences, your dhikr counters, the dhikrs and intentions you wrote in your dhikr notebook, what you wrote in your dua notebook, your missed-prayer counters, your fasting record, your daily worship list and the amounts you entered in the zakat calculator.
You can delete this information with the reset options inside the app. When you remove the app from your phone, all of it is deleted completely. Since there is no account or record belonging to you on our servers, there is no other data of yours that needs to be deleted.
Ads
The app is free and will stay free. To cover server, development and content costs, ads are shown in the app through Google AdMob.
To show and measure ads and to prevent abuse, Google may process the following: your device’s advertising ID, device and app information, approximate location, IP address and your interactions with ads (impressions, clicks). This data is processed by Google under Google’s own privacy policy; we do not have access to it. For details see Google’s page on how it uses data from partner sites and apps.
Your choices about ads:
- From the Settings section of Android you can reset your advertising ID or turn off personalised ads.
- Users in the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown Google’s consent screen before ads are displayed. You can change this choice later in the app under Settings → Ad privacy preferences.
Where ads are not shown: No ads are shown on the Quran reading screen. Full-screen ads appear only at natural transition points and with limited frequency; they do not appear on the prayer times or Quran reading screens, and in the dhikr counter they may appear only when you complete a round. When you return to the app after a long break, an app-open ad may be shown; it is never shown when you open the app from a notification. The rewarded ad on the “Support us” screen is entirely optional and is shown only when you start it.
The content of the ads shown is restricted to the “suitable for everyone” level, in keeping with the nature of the app.
There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions or donation collection in the app. No payment information is requested from you.
Notifications and alarms
If you turn on prayer-time reminders, the app calculates the times on your phone and sends notifications, and if you wish it shows the times permanently in the notification bar. Android’s “alarms and reminders” permission is used so that notifications arrive at the exact minute. All of this happens on your phone; notifications are not sent from our servers and no information is transmitted to us. You can turn notifications off at any time from inside the app or from your phone settings.
Internet connection and external sources
To keep its content up to date, the app connects to the following sources:
- duakitapligi.com — dua texts, Friday sermons and the mosque finder. Downloaded content is stored on your phone and can be read without internet.
- diyanet.gov.tr — the Friday sermon, as a backup source when our site cannot be reached.
- cdn.islamic.network — Quran audio recordings, only when you start playback.
- Google AdMob servers — for loading ads.
- tile.openstreetmap.org — map images for the mosque finder and qibla map, only when you open the map.
- Google location service (Android) — to find places from the text you type when searching for a city.
These requests may create standard access logs such as your IP address and the time of the request, just like visiting any website. No personal information about you is sent with these requests.
Permissions the app requests
- Location: for prayer times and the qibla calculation.
- Internet: to download duas, sermons and Quran audio, and to load ads.
- Notifications: for prayer-time reminders.
- Alarms and reminders: so that notifications arrive exactly on time.
- Vibration: to give feedback on every count in the dhikr counter.
- Exemption from battery restrictions (optional): so that notifications are not delayed on some phones. The app still works if you do not grant it.
The app does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, messages or call logs.
Summary of data collected and shared
- Personal data we collect: none. You have no account and no record on our server. The approximate location sent for the mosque finder is not linked to your identity.
- Data that stays on your device: your location/city choice, your preferences, your dhikr, dua, missed-prayer and fasting records.
- Data shared with a third party (Google): advertising ID, device identifiers, approximate location, IP address and ad interactions — only for showing and measuring ads.
- Sale: none of your data is sold.
Children’s privacy
The app is intended for general use, is not designed for children, and does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Since no account or server record belonging to you is kept in the app, all of your data is under your control: you can delete it with the reset options in the app, or destroy all of it by removing the app. For requests under the legislation of your country, you can reach us at the address below.
Contact and updates
For questions about our privacy policy, you can reach us through our contact page or at duakitapligi@gmail.com. This policy is updated when necessary; the current version is always published on this page, and the date of the last update is shown at the top of the page.
