How are qada prayers calculated?
- Responsibility begins at puberty. If the age of puberty is unknown, the Hanafi school assumes 12 for men and 9 for women; at 15 one is considered mature in any case.
- The number of days between the start of responsibility and the date you began praying regularly is your qada debt for each prayer (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and the wajib Witr).
- For women, the days of menstruation are deducted from the obligatory prayers; the calculation is an approximate starting point. You can also subtract periods in which you prayed regularly.
- Qada prayers can be prayed at any time, except while the sun is rising, at its zenith and setting (the disliked times). An easy approach: pray one qada prayer alongside each obligatory prayer.

How do I calculate my missed (qada) prayers?

At what age does puberty begin in Islam?
In fiqh, puberty begins when its physical signs appear; if no signs appear, 12 for boys and 9 for girls is taken as the lower limit, and 15 as the upper limit for both. The calculator uses the common practice; you can change it to suit your own situation.
How do you pray qada prayers?
A qada prayer is prayed exactly as the fard of that prayer time is prayed; in the intention it is enough to specify something like “the fard of the first Fajr prayer I missed”. The sunnah prayers are not made up; only the fard prayers and witr are.
How many qada prayers should I pray a day?
There is no binding number. The common advice is to pray one qada of each prayer after you pray that prayer, so that five qada prayers are made up every day. Doing a little but consistently is regarded as better than starting with a lot and then giving up.
