Iftar Dua (Dua for Breaking the Fast)

Explanation
This is the dua recited when breaking the fast in Ramadan. There are other versions of the iftar dua as well; but it is an undeniable truth that this one is more comprehensive. This dua contains truths such as that breaking the fast and the fast itself are done only for Allah, that one relies on Him and that provision is asked of no one but Him.
Dua Text

Meaning
O Allah! For Your sake I have fasted. In You I have believed and in You I have put my trust. With the provision You have given I have broken my fast. And I have made the intention for tomorrow’s fast of Ramadan. My Lord, forgive what I have done before and what I have left for later, that is, the sins I have committed. O Allah, whose mercy is abundant, forgive me, my parents and all the believers on the Day of Reckoning.
What Is Asked in This Dua
The acceptance of the fast is asked for; the servant affirms that he fasted for Allah’s pleasure, that he believes in Him and trusts in Him, and that he breaks his fast with His provision. Forgiveness for past and future sins is also asked for.
When and How to Recite
