Dua Text

Transliteration

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim.

Meaning

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, our Lord! All praise is Yours, all dominion is Yours, and all good is in Your hand. Every affair, both its open and its hidden side, returns to You. You are the final destination of every matter. Glory be to the Possessor of the visible and the unseen dominion. Glory be to the Possessor of might and power. Glory be to the Ever-Living who never dies.

What Is Asked in This Dua

This dua is a short text of praise and glorification that fits a great deal into a few sentences. Calling upon their Lord, the believer declares that all praise, all dominion and all good belong to Him. They say that every affair, open and hidden, returns to Him and that He is the final destination of every matter. In this way, they connect every good thing they see in the world and every situation they face to a single source: Allah.

The second part consists of three glorifications: glorifying the Possessor of the visible and the unseen dominion, the Possessor of might and power, and the Ever-Living who never dies. With these words, the believer declares Allah free of every imperfection and affirms that He is the Owner of the unseen world just as of the visible world. The dua contains no concrete worldly request; praise, the affirmation of His dominion and glorification come together.
