Tasbih of the Prophets

Peygamberlerin Tesbihi: Arapçası ve Anlamı

Explanation

This is the shared dua given in the eighteenth chapter of the source book under the heading “The Tasbih of the Prophets”. The individual tasbihs of the prophets are listed after it; this dua, however, is the shared tasbih of istighfar that all of them kept up.

Dua Text

Transliteration

Meaning

There is no god but You; I glorify You with Your praise. I have done evil and wronged myself, so forgive me, for You are the best of those who forgive. Accept my repentance; indeed, You are the Most Accepting of repentance, the Most Merciful.

What Is Asked in This Dua

Forgiveness of sins, acceptance of repentance and acknowledgement of the self’s shortcomings are sought.

When and How to Recite

At any time; it is recited especially when repenting and when taking account of oneself at the end of the day.

Virtue

The source book states that this dua is made so that the servant’s sins may fall away and so that he may recognise his shortcomings, and that many prophets persisted in it. It concerns both recognising one’s sin and asking for that sin to be shed.
