Explanation

These are two duas of seeking refuge to be recited by someone who is frightened in their sleep and sees nightmares and bad dreams. It is Satan who shows us bad dreams at night; to be rid of him, we should seek refuge in our Lord and recite this dua.

Dua Text

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللّٰهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ غَضَبِهِ وَمِنْ شَرِّ عِبَادِهِ وَمِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ ۞ اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ وَسَيِّئَاتِ الْأَحْلَامِ

Transliteration

A’udhu bi-kalimatillahit-tammati min ghadabihi wa min sharri ‘ibadihi wa min hamazatish-shayatini wa an yahdurun. Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ‘amalish-shaytani wa sayyi’atil-ahlam.

Meaning

I seek refuge in Allah, through the perfect words of Allah, the Exalted, from His wrath and from the evil of His servants, from the whisperings of the devils and from their being present with me. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the whisperings of Satan and from bad dreams.
