Dua Text

Transliteration

Meaning

O Allah! Keep my eyesight healthy and leave it with me until my last moment. Uphold my right against the enemy, and help me against whoever wrongs me. In the name of Allah, the Great; we seek refuge in Allah, the Mighty, from the evil of every throbbing vein and from the evil of the heat of fire.

What Is Asked in This Dua

In this dua, the servant asks Allah for healthy eyes and for the blessing of sight to remain with them until the last moment of their life. The eye is one of a person’s most precious senses; in this dua, what is asked is not only that this blessing be healed but that it be preserved for a lifetime. Then the servant asks that their right be upheld against the enemy and that Allah help them against whoever wrongs them.

In the last part of the dua, saying “In the name of Allah, the Great,” one seeks refuge in Allah from the evil of every throbbing vein and from the evil of the heat of fire. What is meant here is the burning distress caused by pain and inflammation in the body. By seeking refuge in Allah’s greatness, the servant wishes to be protected both from eye pain and from every kind of harm. Thus the dua brings together the preservation of the blessing of sight and asking for help against injustice.
