Friday Sermon: Our Prophet and Good Morals

Friday sermon (khutbah) of 04 Eylül 2026 — Diyanet, Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye

O our Honorable Master of the Universe!

On the anniversary of your birth, we are experiencing the peace and happiness of being the brothers you gave the good news to by saying, "How happy are those who believe without seeing me." We give endless praise and praise to our Almighty Lord, who has honored us by being his ummah. May peace and blessings be upon you, your family and your companions.

Dear Believers!

Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) is a guide that shows how the divine message will come to life, having been praised by God Almighty, "You are certainly of sublime morality." And his morality is not just an example that remains in the age in which he lives or is admired from afar. There is wisdom for all humanity in the messages of mercy of our Prophet (pbuh). As a matter of fact, our Prophet (pbuh) said: "Allah does not look at your appearances and possessions, but looks at your hearts and deeds." They also said: "Stay true to the truth. Because truthfulness leads to goodness, and goodness leads to heaven… Beware of lies! Because lies lead people to evil, and evil leads to hell…" And they also said: "Every religion has its own morality; the essence of Islamic morality is modesty."

Dear Muslims!

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) showed the way to happiness in two worlds with the hadith: "There will be nothing heavier on the scales of a believer on the Day of Judgment than good morals." He emphasized that faith and morality cannot be considered separately from each other with the words: "You cannot enter heaven unless you believe. You cannot truly believe unless you love each other." He taught us the method of ensuring social peace and tranquility with the warning: "Do not hate each other, do not envy each other, do not turn your back on each other. O servants of Allah, be brothers."

Dear Believers!

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) informs us of all the qualities that will lead humanity to goodness in family, education, business and commerce, in short, in all areas of life. The verse "There is undoubtedly a good example in the Messenger of Allah for those of you who hope for Allah's grace and the Last Day and who remember Allah much" reminds us of this truth. He commands us to pay the worker the wages he deserves before his sweat dries, and forbids us from sleeping full while our neighbor is hungry. "Have you caressed the head of an orphan? Have you fed a needy? Have you visited a patient?" It also reminds us of our moral responsibilities with questions such as.

Dear Muslims!

Today; The understanding that prioritizes matter and postpones meaning, makes being visible the only goal, prefers the ephemeral to the eternal, and lies to the truth deeply affects us all. In such an environment, we must now confront ourselves. We must reflect the prophetic morality of our Prophet (pbuh), represented by his smiling face, gentle nature, and subtle and sensitive soul, into our lives. Let's not forget that; The way to live a life worthy of human dignity is to recognize the universal morality of our Beloved Prophet (pbuh) and to hold tightly to it.

Our prayer from our Almighty Lord is the following prayer of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): "O Allah! Guide me to good morals. There is no one who can lead me to good morals except You. Remove bad morals from me. There is no one who can remove bad morals from me except You."
