Friday Sermon: The Test of Humanity Gaza

Friday Sermon: The Test of Humanity Gaza

Friday sermon (khutbah) of 09 Ekim 2026 — Diyanet, Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye

This text was translated automatically from the Turkish original published by Diyanet. The Turkish text is authoritative; Arabic verses and hadiths are kept in the original.

Dear Muslims!

Three years have passed since the genocide launched by the oppressors against our brothers in Gaza. Even today, mosques, households, schools and hospitals are being bombed in the city that has turned into rubble. Our brothers' houses are being taken away from them, their vineyards and gardens are being plundered, and their workplaces are being burned and destroyed. Muslims' sacred values are being violated; Children, the elderly, women, the disabled, in short, a whole society, are being brutally murdered in front of the eyes of the whole world.

Dear Believers!

The suffering in Gaza is not just a disaster suffered by our Palestinian brothers. Every person on earth; It is a historical test where conscience, morality and honor are tested. However, the cries rising to the top in Gaza; It breaks the heart of every person who adopts justice, fairness and mercy as his motto. Around the world; The rise of voices and reactions to end the massacre, protect civilians and deliver aid shows that consciences are not dulled and humanity is not dead.

Dear Muslims!

Throughout history, all oppressors made the same mistake; they thought they were invincible. However, there was always someone who shouted to their faces that the truth would prevail. Just as a child from Gaza said: "If you destroy our house, we will build a new one. If you destroy our school, we will build a new one. We are not going anywhere!" Yes, humanity has always witnessed that oppression can never be eternal and that it will definitely end one day. No matter how powerful the oppressors are, our Almighty Lord's judgment is final: "…How many small groups have prevailed over very large groups with the permission of Allah. Allah is with those who are patient."

Dear Muslims!

Gaza is the name of a historical resistance that raises the banner of humanity's glory to the sky. While our brothers there are being tested by the pain of their children, the worry of their lives and the destruction of their homeland; We are also tested with our stance and sensitivity. If the test of our Gazan brothers is to be patient, our test is not to forget, if their test is to resist, our test is to be sensitive, if their test is to fight against poverty, our test is to share our opportunities with them. However, we should not underestimate the consumption power we have, and see the boycott as a conscious and moral attitude against oppression, not a temporary reaction. The warning of our Almighty Lord is very clear: "What is the matter with you that you do not fight in the way of Allah and for the helpless men, women and children who say, 'Our Lord! Take us out of this city whose people are oppressors, send us a ruler from Your side and send us a helper from Yourself!'?"

My brothers!

Muslims; When they obey the verse "When an unjust attack is made on them, they defend themselves together" and come to the aid of each other, the oppressors who disrespect Masjid al-Aqsa and Haram Al-Ibrahim Mosque will be defeated, and all the oppressed people on earth, especially our brothers in Gaza and East Turkestan, will prosper.

We end our sermon with the following hadith of our Prophet (pbuh): "…Muslims are a single hand against others. The strong protect the weak; those who go ahead look after those who are left behind…"
