Dua Text
Transliteration
Allahumma sahhih jismi, waktub fis-su’ada’i ismi, wa habbibni fi qulubis-salihin, wa ‘azzimni fi ‘uyunis-salihin, wasrif ‘anni sharraz-zalimin wa kaydal-munafiqin, bi-rahmatika ya Arhamar-rahimin, wa sallallahu ‘ala khayri khalqihi Muhammadin wa alihi wa ashabihi ajma’in.
Meaning
O Allah! Grant health to my body and write my name among the blessed. Make me beloved in the hearts of the righteous and honored in their eyes. Turn away from me the evil of the wrongdoers and the scheming of the hypocrites. By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful. May Allah’s blessings be upon Muhammad, the best of His creation, and upon his family and all his Companions.
What Is Asked in This Dua
In this dua, the sick person first asks for health for their body; then, by asking for their name to be written among the blessed, they carry their request from this world to the Hereafter. What is asked for is not only recovery but, beyond recovery, being among the happy servants who have attained salvation. Being loved in the hearts of the righteous and honored in their eyes is also among the requests of this dua, because the love of good people is regarded as a sign that one’s state is good.
In the second part of the dua, the servant asks for protection from the evil of wrongdoers and the scheming of hypocrites. In this way, alongside bodily illness, any harm that may come from people is also entrusted to Allah. The dua ends by seeking refuge in Allah’s mercy and by sending blessings (salawat) upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the best of creation, and upon his family and Companions.
