And may He bring relief to the hearts of the believers. It is a healing for what is in the hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers. From the bellies of the bees comes a drink of varying colors in which there is healing for people. We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers. And when I fall ill, it is He who heals me. Say: It is guidance and healing for those who believe.
What Is Asked in This Dua
The verses of healing are a collection of verses that appear in six different places in the Holy Quran and speak of healing. In these verses the servant does not so much ask for something as remember Allah’s healing attribute and lean on it. It is Allah who brings relief to the hearts of the believers, and who is healing, guidance and mercy for the troubles in the hearts. The healing in the drink that comes from the bee’s belly and the healing in the Quran come from the same source.
Among the verses, the words spoken by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), “When I fall ill, it is He who heals me”, declare that healing comes not from the doctor or the medicine but from Allah, who creates the means. The last verse says that the Quran is both guidance and healing for those who believe. In this way, whoever recites this text holds on to Allah’s promise of healing, both for illness of the body and for tightness of the heart.
When and How to Recite
According to the source, these verses are recited over the sick person; the book also mentions writing them on a piece of paper and giving its water to the sick person to drink. It is stated that they are especially good for distress of the soul and for relief of the heart. No specific time or number is mentioned; they can be recited at any time in illness, hardship and inner distress.
Since the text consists of verses of the Quran, it is more fitting to recite it with wudu; if you recite it from the Mushaf, wudu is required. It is also possible to recite it from memory, or to read its translated meaning while reflecting on it.
Virtue
They are recited over the sick person, and they are also written on a piece of paper whose water is given to the sick person to drink. It is stated that they are especially good for distress of the soul and for relief of the heart.
