Dua for Wealth and Guidance

Explanation
This is a dua for asking for wealth through lawful (halal) means. In it, guidance, piety, chastity and wealth are asked for together.
Four things are asked for in this dua, and their order is meaningful: “huda” (guidance, finding the right path), “tuqa” (taqwa, being mindful of Allah), “’afaf” (chastity, keeping away from the forbidden and from begging) and “ghina” (wealth, contentment of the heart). This dua is one of the short supplications narrated from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ; it does not ask for wealth on its own, but together with three qualities that make it possible to carry it. In Arabic, the word “ghina” describes both material wealth and not being in need of anyone.
Dua Text
اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدٰى وَالتُّقٰى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنٰى
Transliteration
Allahumma inna nas’alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-‘afafa wal-ghina.
Meaning
O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety (taqwa), chastity and wealth through lawful means.
What Is Asked in This Dua
Guidance, piety, chastity and wealth through lawful means are asked for. Wealth is not asked for on its own, but together with the guidance, piety and chastity that allow it to be carried without being corrupted.
When and How to Recite
It has no set time, and the source does not give a number either. It can be recited after the prayers, when starting work and at times when you feel your provision (rizq) is tight.
It is worth paying attention to the order of the dua: first guidance and piety are asked for, then chastity, and wealth comes last. In this way the servant also asks to be protected from being corrupted by wealth itself.
Since the dua is short, it can be recited after every prayer. As with other duas recited for provision, it is recited alongside working and taking the means for lawful earnings; the source does not consider it right to ask for wealth separately from guidance and piety.
