Dua at the Miqat

Mikat Yerinde Okunacak Dua: Okunuşu ve Anlamı

Explanation

This is the dua recited at the boundary of the miqat when making the intention for Hajj and entering ihram.

The dua has three parts: with “inni uridul-hajj” (I intend Hajj) the intention is expressed, with “fa yassirhu li” (so make it easy for me) you ask that the journey and the worship be easy, and with “wa taqabbalhu minni” (and accept it from me) you ask that the worship be accepted in the sight of Allah. For Umrah you say “inni uridul-‘umrah” (I intend Umrah). After the intention, the talbiyah is recited: “Labbayk Allahumma labbayk…”.

Dua Text

اَللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى اُرِيدُ الْحَجَّ فَيَسِّرْهُ لِى وَتَقَبَّلْهُ مِنِّى

Transliteration

Allahumma inni uridul-hajja fa yassirhu li wa taqabbalhu minni.

Meaning

O Allah! I intend to perform Hajj; make the Hajj easy for me and accept this Hajj from me.

What Is Asked in This Dua

In this dua you ask for the Hajj to be made easy and for the worship to be accepted by Allah. Right at the start of the journey, the pilgrim entrusts the matter not to their own strength but to Allah making it easy. Saying the intention aloud also makes clear for what purpose the worship is being performed.

When and How to Recite

The miqat is the boundary point for entering ihram for Hajj or Umrah; it is not permissible to pass this boundary without ihram. The dua is recited at the miqat while putting on ihram and making the intention for Hajj. The intention is made according to one of the three types of Hajj (qiran, tamattu’, ifrad).

The miqat boundaries were set by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ; pilgrims travelling from Turkey usually enter ihram on the plane, while those coming from the direction of Madinah enter it at Dhul-Hulayfah. Before entering ihram you take a ghusl or wudu, pray two rak’ahs of ihram prayer, then make the intention, recite this dua and say the talbiyah. Once in ihram, prohibitions such as sewn clothing, perfume and shaving begin.
