Dua on the Way to Arafat

Arafat’a Giderken Okunacak Dua: Okunuşu ve Anlamı

Explanation

This is the dua recited on the way while going up to Arafat on the Day of Arafah.

The dua opens with three affirmations: “ilayka tawajjahtu” (I have turned to You), “’alayka tawakkaltu” (I have put my trust in You) and “wajhaka aradtu” (I have sought Your pleasure). Four requests follow: that the journey be blessed, that the wish made at Arafat be fulfilled, that sins be forgiven, and to be among the servants Allah boasts of before His angels. This last request is based on the glad tidings in the hadith, “Allah boasts of His servants at Arafat before His angels”; as they set out, the pilgrim asks to be one of those servants.
