Dua After Asr Prayer

Explanation
This is a short dua recited after the Asr prayer. It asks for the best in livelihood, life and provision.
Dua Text
Transliteration
Allahummarzuqna minal-‘ayshi arghadahu wa minal-‘umri as’adahu wa minar-rizqi awsa’ahu.
Meaning
O Allah! Grant us the most comfortable of livelihoods, the happiest of lives and the most abundant of provision.
What Is Asked in This Dua
In this dua, the servant asks Allah for the best in three basic elements of worldly life. First, he asks for the most comfortable livelihood; a living free of hardship, peaceful and not dependent on anyone. Second, he asks for the happiest life; not so much a long one as one that passes in peace and happiness.
Third, he asks for the most abundant provision; to be blessed with lawful and ample rizq. What stands out is that the servant asks Allah for these three things by saying “the best, the happiest, the most abundant.” In other words, knowing that provision and life come not through his own effort but by Allah’s decree, he asks Him for the very best. The dua is made not only for oneself but, by saying “us,” for one’s family and those around one as well.
When and How to Recite
This dua is recited after the Asr prayer. It is a time when the working hours of the day are drawing to a close, reminding you that the effort made for livelihood and provision depends on Allah’s grace. No specific number of recitations is mentioned in the source.
It is preferable to be in a state of wudu and to reflect on its meaning. It is suitable to recite daily for those facing financial hardship and those who wish for their provision to increase. Those who find the Arabic difficult can also make the dua with its meaning in their own language.
