Camiye Girerken Okunacak Dua Okunuşu ve Anlamı

Explanation

A dua recited when entering the mosque. The source book states that a Muslim should enter the mosque with the feeling of entering the house of his Lord.

Dua Text

اَللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَخَزَائِنَ فَضْلِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ يَا أَكْرَمَ الْأَكْرَمِينَ

Transliteration

Allahummaftah abwaba rahmatika wa khaza’ina fadlika wa karamika ya Akramal-akramin.

Meaning

O Allah! Open for me the gates of Your mercy and the treasuries of Your grace and generosity. O Most Generous of the generous!

What Is Asked in This Dua

In this dua, recited when entering the mosque, the servant asks Allah to open the gates of His mercy. Since the mosque is the house of Allah, as the servant passes through its door he thinks that he is also passing through a door that opens onto divine mercy, and he asks that this mercy be opened to him. He then asks that the treasuries of Allah’s grace and generosity be opened to him as well; that is, he hopes to receive a share from the boundless source of favors and generosity given even though he has not earned them.

The dua ends with the address “O Most Generous of the generous!” By calling on Allah with His attribute of being the Most Generous, the servant shows that he relies not on the greatness of his request but on the greatness of Allah’s generosity. The source states that a Muslim should enter the mosque with the feeling of entering the house of his Lord. In this way, the dua turns entering the mosque into more than an ordinary step; passing through the door, the servant becomes aware that he is stepping into Allah’s presence, asking for mercy, grace and generosity.

When and How to Recite

It is recited when entering the mosque, at the moment you step inside through the door. The source states that entering the mosque with a dua and leaving it with a dua is a recommendation of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It can be repeated each time you enter a mosque; no specific number of recitations is mentioned. Since one usually enters the mosque with wudu, the dua is recited in the most fitting state; still, wudu is not a condition for the dua. Entering with the right foot and reciting it while reflecting on its meaning is a good etiquette; one can also make the dua with its meaning in one’s own language.

Virtue

Entering the mosque with a dua and leaving the mosque with a dua is a recommendation of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
