Transliteration
Allahumma Rabba Jibrila wa Israfila wa Mika’ila wa Muhammadin an-nabiyyi sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, a’udhu bika minan-nar.
Meaning
O Allah! O Lord of Jibril, Israfil, Mika’il and the Prophet Muhammad! I seek refuge in You from the Fire.
What Is Asked in This Dua
In this short dua, recited after the sunnah of the Fajr prayer, the servant calls upon Allah as the Lord of the great angels and of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Jibril, Israfil and Mika’il are among Allah’s most exalted angels, and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is His final messenger. By turning to Allah, the Lord of these chosen beings, the servant remembers His greatness and His sovereignty over the most excellent of His creation.
The dua has a single request: seeking refuge in Allah from the Fire. The servant asks to be protected from Hell for the sake of the Lord of the angels and of the Prophet; in other words, he makes the closeness of these exalted servants to Allah a means for his own request to be accepted. The source book states that reciting this dua after the sunnah of every Fajr prayer is considered very rewarding. A servant who begins the day aware of seeking refuge from Hell arranges everything he does that day with the reckoning of the Hereafter in mind.
