Meaning
O Allah! Grant me a long life, a healthy body, an open heart, good well-being, abundant provision, safety, peace of mind and deliverance from the hands of the oppressors. Grant me esteem among people and understanding in knowledge, in spiritual insight and in the Quran. Make my faith lasting and sweet. Grant me well-being that encompasses all my states. Grant me to follow Your Prophet Muhammad and to stand firm in his religion until the Day of Judgement. By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
What Is Asked in This Dua
This dua asks, all at once, for almost everything a person may need for this world and the Hereafter. The servant first asks for a long life, a healthy body, an open heart, good well-being and abundant provision; then for safety, peace of mind and deliverance from the hands of the oppressors. These are the needs of the body and of daily life.
The second group of requests goes deeper: esteem among people, understanding in knowledge and spiritual insight, and the ability to grasp the Quran. Then the servant asks that their faith remain lasting and sweet, and for a well-being that encompasses all their states. The dua reaches its peak with the wish to follow the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and to stand firm in his religion until the Day of Judgement. All of this is asked by relying on Allah’s mercy and calling on Him as the Most Merciful of the merciful; in other words, the servant says they hope for it through His mercy, not because they deserve it.
