Dua Text

Meaning
O Allah! Praise be to You, just as the one who calls upon You says. O Allah! My prayer, my sacrifice, my life and my death are from You and for You; my return is to You, and my inheritance is Yours. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, from tightness of the chest and from the scattering of my affairs. O Allah! I also seek refuge in You from the evil that the wind brings.
I declare Allah free of all imperfection; all praise belongs to Allah; there is no god but Allah; Allah is the Greatest; there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent.
There is no god but Allah; He is One and has no partner. His is the dominion, His is the praise, and He has power over all things.
I seek forgiveness from Allah the Magnificent, besides whom there is no god, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining, and I turn to Him in repentance. I ask Him for repentance and forgiveness; surely He is the One who accepts repentance abundantly, the Most Merciful.
What Is Asked in This Dua
In the first dua the servant regards their worship, their life and their death as belonging to Allah, and seeks refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave, from tightness of the heart and from the scattering of their affairs. The other three are tasbih, tawhid (declaring Allah’s oneness) and istighfar. The book notes that most pilgrims do not know many duas, and that these short duas are easy and sufficient for everyone.
When and How to Recite
They are recited during the wuquf at Arafat on the Day of Arafah. Arafat is counted among the places where duas are accepted; there the servant should pour out their sins and return free of them.
