Meaning

O Allah! Send such mercy upon our master Muhammad and upon his family that through it You save us from all terrors and calamities, fulfill all our needs, purify us from all sins, raise us to the highest ranks in Your presence, and bring us to the farthest limits of all good things in this life and after death. Indeed, You have power over all things.

What Is Asked in This Dua

Salat al-Munjiyah means “the saving salawat”. The servant asks Allah to send such mercy upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his family that through this mercy they too may attain salvation. Every sentence of the salawat carries a request: to be saved from all terrors and calamities, to have all needs fulfilled, and to be purified from all sins.

The requests do not end there. The servant wishes to be raised to the highest ranks in Allah’s presence and to reach the farthest limits of all good things, both in this life and after death. In other words, the whole good of this world and the Hereafter is asked of Allah through the salawat sent upon the Prophet. The salawat ends with the sentence “You have power over all things”; the servant affirms that all these requests are easy for Allah. The source states that this salawat is recited with the intention of attaining the intercession of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and being saved from hardships.

When and How to Recite

Whoever finds the Arabic difficult can send salawat using its meaning in their own language.
