Transliteration
Allahumma salli wa sallim wa barik ‘ala sayyidina Muhammadinil-fatihi lima ughliqa wal-khatimi lima sabaqa, nasiril-haqqi bil-haqqi wal-hadi ila siratikal-mustaqim, wa ‘ala alihi haqqa qadrihi wa miqdarihil-‘azim.
Meaning
O Allah! Send blessings, peace and abundance upon our master Muhammad, the opener of what was closed, the completer of what came before, the helper of truth by truth and the guide to Your straight path, in a measure worthy of him and as great as his immense worth. Bestow the same upon his family as well.
What Is Asked in This Dua
In this salawat the servant asks Allah to send blessings, peace and abundance upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Prophet is remembered with four attributes: the opener of what was closed, the completer of what came before, the helper of truth by truth and the guide to the straight path. Opening what was closed describes how hearts and doors that were shut were opened through the revelation he brought; completing what came before describes his being the final prophet who sealed the line of the earlier prophets.
Helping truth by truth means that he defended what is right by means that are also right; guiding to the straight path means that he called people to Allah’s way. The servant wishes these blessings and peace to be in a measure worthy of the Prophet and as great as his immense worth, and asks the same favor for his family. The source states that this salawat is recited with the intention that closed doors be opened and affairs be made easy, and for relief of the heart and receiving spiritual grace from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
When and How to Recite
The source does not mention a specific time or number; it can be recited at any time. Since it is recited with the intention that closed doors be opened and affairs be made easy, it fits being recited when a matter is stuck, when a problem has no solution in sight, or when the heart feels tight. It can also be added to your daily salawat with the intention of receiving spiritual grace from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Being in a state of wudu is preferable but not a condition for salawat. What matters is reciting it while reflecting on the Prophet’s attributes mentioned in it, aware that you are sending blessings and peace upon him. Whoever finds the Arabic difficult can send salawat using its meaning in their own language.
Virtue
It is recited for opening (fath), relief of the heart and receiving spiritual grace (fayd) from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
