Dua After Isha Prayer

Explanation
This is a short dua recited after the Isha prayer. It asks for ease for oneself and one’s parents.
Dua Text
Transliteration
Ya da’iman bila fana’in wa ya qa’iman bila zawalin wa ya mudabbiran bila wazirin, sahhil ‘alayna wa abawayna kulla ‘asirin.
Meaning
O Ever-Lasting One without end, O Self-Subsisting One who never ceases, O You who arrange every affair without a helper! Make every difficult matter easy for us and for our parents.
What Is Asked in This Dua
In this dua, the servant first remembers Allah by three of His attributes. He is the Ever-Lasting without end; while everything is perishable, He remains. He is the Self-Subsisting who never ceases; His existence is from Himself, and He needs nothing. He is the One who arranges every affair without a helper; He governs all the affairs of the universe without a minister or an adviser. These three attributes remind the servant of whom he is seeking refuge in.
Then the servant states his request: that every difficult matter for himself and his parents be made easy. The dua is made not only for oneself but also for one’s parents; in this way the child repays his debt of loyalty to his parents through dua. Difficult matters may be a concrete hardship, or they may be livelihood, health or the burdens of daily life; the servant entrusts them all to Allah, who arranges every affair.
When and How to Recite
This dua is recited after the Isha prayer. Its meaning suits asking Allah for ease, after the last prayer of the day, regarding the troubles and difficult matters of the next day. No specific number of recitations is mentioned in the source.
The book states that reciting a separate dua after each of the daily prayers is a spiritual remedy for peace of heart, clarity of soul, the refinement of character and an increase in provision. It is preferable to be in a state of wudu, to reflect on its meaning and to remember your parents as you recite it.
