Surah Al-Layl

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰ ﴿١﴾

Velleyli iza yağşa

“By the Night as it conceals (the light)”

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ ﴿٢﴾

Vennehari iza tecella

“By the Day as it appears in glory”

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ ﴿٣﴾

Ve ma halekazzekere vel´ünsa

“By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female”

إِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتَّىٰ ﴿٤﴾

İnne sa´yeküm leşetta

“Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse”

فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ ﴿٥﴾

Feemma men a´ta vetteka

“So he who gives (in charity) and fears (God)”

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ ﴿٦﴾

Ve saddeka bilhusna

“And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best”

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ ﴿٧﴾

Fesenüyessirühu lilyüsra

“We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss”

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ ﴿٨﴾

Ve emma men bahıle vestağna

“But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient”

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ ﴿٩﴾

Ve kezzebe bilhusna

“And gives the lie to the best”

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡعُسۡرَىٰ ﴿١٠﴾

Fesenüyessirühu lil´usra

“We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery”

وَمَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ ﴿١١﴾

Ve ma yuğniy ´anhü malühu iza teredda

“Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit)”

إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَلۡهُدَىٰ ﴿١٢﴾

İnne ´aleyna lelhüda

“Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide”

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلۡأٓخِرَةَ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ ﴿١٣﴾

Ve inne lena lel´ahırete vel´ula

“And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning”

فَأَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارࣰ ا تَلَظَّىٰ ﴿١٤﴾

Feenzertüküm naren telezza

“Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely”

لَا يَصۡلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى ﴿١٥﴾

La yaslaha illel´eşka

“None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones”

ٱلَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿١٦﴾

Elleziy kezzebe ve tevella

“Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs”

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَتۡقَى ﴿١٧﴾

Ve seyücennebühel´etka

“But those most devoted to God shall be removed far from it”

ٱلَّذِي يُؤۡتِي مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ ﴿١٨﴾

Elleziy yü´tiy malehu yetezekka

“Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification”

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعۡمَةࣲ تُجۡزَىٰٓ ﴿١٩﴾

Ve ma liehadin ´ındehu min nı´metin tücza

“And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return”

إِلَّا ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ ﴿٢٠﴾

İllebtiğae vechi rabbihil´a´la

“But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High”

وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضَىٰ ﴿٢١﴾

Ve lesevfe yerda

“And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction”
