Meaning
O Allah! Send Your salat upon Muhammad and his family in such a way that no mercy remains that has not reached them. Have mercy on Muhammad and his family in such a way that no compassion remains that has not reached them. Bless them in such a way that no blessing remains that has not reached them. Grant them peace in such a way that no peace remains that has not reached them.
What Is Asked in This Dua
In this salawat, the servant asks for four things for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his family: salat, mercy, blessing and peace. Yet he does not ask for each in an ordinary way; by saying “so that no mercy remains that has not reached them,” he asks for it in the fullest measure. In other words, he wishes that no part of Allah’s mercy, blessing and peace remain without reaching the Prophet and his family.
The four parts of the salawat complete one another. The first part asks Allah to send salat upon the Prophet, the second to have mercy and compassion on him, the third to bless him, and the fourth to grant him peace. The emphasis repeated in each part with the words “so that no … remains” shows how boundless the servant’s love for the Prophet is. Whoever recites this salawat expresses devotion to the Prophet by asking that Allah’s greatest favors be directed, without any shortfall, to the Prophet and his family.
When and How to Recite
The source states that this salawat may be recited by night and by day, and that reciting it especially on Fridays is recommended. It is fitting to recite it on Friday and Thursday night (the night before Friday), after the prayers, or at times set aside for sending salawat. The source mentions no specific number of recitations. Wudu is not required, though being in a state of wudu is virtuous.
